An impressive footballing display given the condition of the pitch, where there wasn-t mud there were leaves!
Swifts were threatening from the off with both Ed and Tom H going close, as shots rained in on the Alderbury goal we were wondering if we-d ever score. Blake had a tremendous effort from outside the box that struck the keeper-s knee, from the corner Russell stabbed home from close range. Alderbury did look menacing on the odd break away but the back four put in some tremendous covering and tackling. However a limp back pass almost set up an equaliser for the home team but somehow Matt Seymour managed to head off the line.
Russell then scored a fabulous "Le Tiss" style goal dinking the ball over not one but two defenders before lashing a shot past the keeper. 0-2 half- time.
Coach Hewitt asked for the back four to be tighter particularly on the advanced midfielder and play a slightly higher line to condense the play in Swifts half.
This worked as there was little threat to Migsy-s goal and going forward Swifts played some exquisite football and goals from Ed, Gomer and Gilad completed the scoring. Both Gomer-s and Ed-s goals were stunning...Ed-s a well placed header following some luscious wing play by Russ and Gomer-s a pivoting right foot volley that made the net bulge.
MoM was a very difficult decision Blake and Russ gave their best displays of the season but the award went to Tom Moissey who despite cracking his head open the day before headed everything and contributed fully to many of the best plays down the right hand side.
